Description

Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa is one of Australia's most historic and iconic mineral bathing destinations, located in the picturesque spa town of Hepburn Springs in the Daylesford region of central Victoria. Set within the Hepburn Mineral Springs Reserve and surrounded by towering eucalypts and lush parkland, the bathhouse sits at the heart of an area renowned for having one of the highest concentrations of effervescent mineral springs in Australia.

The story of bathing at Hepburn dates back to the 1800s, when Swiss-Italian gold miners settled in the region and recognised the therapeutic value of the bubbling mineral waters that rose naturally from the ground. The original bathhouse was first established in 1895, making it one of the oldest spa facilities in the country. Generations of visitors have travelled to "take the waters" at Hepburn, drawn by the reputed health benefits of the naturally carbonated, mineral-rich springs.

Today's facility blends this rich heritage with contemporary design following a major redevelopment completed in 2008. The bathhouse offers a range of bathing experiences, including a large communal mineral pool, spa pools with massaging jets, a relaxation pool, salt therapy pool, hammam steam baths and private mineral bathing suites. The mineral water is drawn directly from the on-site springs and gently warmed for bathing, retaining its natural mineral content including bicarbonates, magnesium, calcium and iron.

Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa has earned recognition through numerous tourism and wellness awards over the years, including accolades at the Victorian Tourism Awards and recognition as one of the country's leading day spas by Australian Spa & Wellness publications. It is also a key part of the broader Daylesford and Hepburn Springs spa precinct, classified as a designated spa region.

A visit offers a uniquely Australian wellness experience steeped in tradition, nature and authentic mineral bathing heritage.
