Cunnamulla Hot Springs is a striking outback bathing destination located in the remote south-west corner of Queensland, in the heart of Paroo Shire country. Set against the vast red landscapes and endless skies of the Australian outback, the springs draw their water from the Great Artesian Basin — one of the largest and deepest underground freshwater reservoirs in the world — where ancient water has travelled for thousands of years through layers of rock before rising to the surface naturally hot.

The thermal water at Cunnamulla emerges from the bore at temperatures around 45°C and is rich in naturally occurring minerals including calcium, magnesium, sodium and bicarbonates, prized for their soothing and restorative qualities. The bathing precinct features a series of architecturally designed pools cascading down a curved deck, each cooled progressively to provide a range of bathing temperatures suited to every preference. There are also private bathing pods, a cold plunge pool, sauna, steam room and shaded relaxation lounges, all positioned to make the most of the dramatic outback setting.

Opened in 2023, Cunnamulla Hot Springs is the result of a long-held community vision to transform the town's existing artesian bore into a world-class wellness and tourism destination. Backed by local council and government investment, the project was designed to drive tourism, create regional employment and put Cunnamulla firmly on the map as a must-visit outback experience. The bathing experience has been thoughtfully integrated with Indigenous storytelling, acknowledging the deep cultural connection of the Kunja people to the land and water.

By day, bathers can soak under wide blue skies surrounded by red earth and native scrub.
